Hot Peppers Prevent The Number One Cause of Death

Capsaicinoids found in cayenne pepper, jalapenos, habaneros and other chili peppers already have an established treatment role in creams to address joint and arthritis pain. They also promote fat burning, increase metabolism and even kill cancer cells. Scientists have now reported the latest evidence that chili peppers are a heart-healthy food with potential to protect against the No. 1 cause of death in the developed world.
Past research suggested that spicing food with chilies can lower blood pressure in people with that condition, reduce blood cholesterol and ease the tendency for dangerous blood clots to form.

Researchers in Korea recently published evidence that suggests the mechanisms behind why capsaicin may aid weight loss.

Spicing up your daily diet with some red pepper can also curb appetite, especially for those who don't normally eat the popular spice, according to research from Purdue University.

The component that gives jalapeno peppers their heat may also kill prostate cancer cells. More here.

“Israel must be like a mad dog, too dangerous to bother”

Martin van Creveld, a former professor of military history at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and a world-leading writer on military matters, has made many enemies with his seemingly outrageous views.
But actually he does a great service by sharing his thoughts about what ‘mad dog’ Israeli might do next.
In a September 2003 interview in Elsevier (the Dutch weekly) Van Creveld said: “We possess several hundred atomic warheads and rockets and can launch them at targets in all directions, perhaps even at Rome. Most European capitals are targets for our air force…. We have the capability to take the world down with us. And I can assure you that that will happen before Israel goes under.” Story here.

The End of Women?

With the current debate over equalization of paychecks straight across the board at national, state, and provincial, legislatures fail to see the ramifications of these "fair-paycheck" or "equal rights" acts they are proposing.

Here is how a single man in Canada feels equalization of men and women has effected his life, and the current culture.

"The CBC released a documentary in 2011 called “The End of Men.” The premise of the documentary was to illustrate the point that women make up over 50% in the workforce, as well as in University enrollment.
However, after watching this government sponsored male attack piece I came away with a different idea. Could what we are seeing be not the end of men. But rather, the end of women?"

Obama’s foreign policy speech angers progressives

And the hits just keep coming...
In a speech rife with incongruities and contradictions, President Obama set out his vision and defense of U.S. foreign policy on Wednesday at the West Point Military Academy in New York.
In the speech, Obama announced that he believes “in American exceptionalism with every fiber of my being” and spoke repeatedly about “American leadership” and “American strength.”
Progressives and foreign policy experts on the left, however, were quick to criticize the president’s speech from various angles via their Twitter accounts with many noting that for all his grand rhetoric on the nation’s special place in the world, the United States under his leadership has done little to inspire and much to undermine such a role. From assaults on human rights and the flouting of international law to serves its own interests, many critics charge, the United States continues to export militarism while undermining efforts to create a more just and peaceful world.
The rest of this BS here.

The Founding Fathers Guaranteed Freedom of the Press … Even For Bloggers

Freedom of the Press Geared Towards Protecting Critics of Government Corruption … Not Government Apologists

Excerpt: Senator Dianne Feinstein argued for an amendment that would have restricted the shield to salaried journalists. “Should this privilege apply to anyone, to a seventeen year-old who drops out of high school, buys a website for five dollars and starts a blog? Or should it apply to journalists, to reporters, who have bona fide credentials?”
Once again that certain element is at the forefront of every attempt to undermine this country.

Autism and Ionizing Radiation

Diagnoses of autism are increasing and more researchers are concluding that environmental causes are contributing in significant ways to the rising diagnoses. Environmental injuries that are suspected to play a role in autism include DNA damage, primarily in the form of de novo mutations, epigenetic changes in how genes encode proteins, and endocrine system disturbances. The environmental culprits potentially responsible for these injuries are varied. This mini-essay seeks to redress a limitation in the autism research on environmental insults by exploring the potential role of radioisotopes, such as strontium and radiocesium, in contributing to rising rates of autism.
Many have suspected since the onset of the atomic age that there would be a price to pay. Very interesting article here.

Even Iran Knows How To Fix The Corrupt Banker Problem

Having watched Tim Geithner's disgusting defense of the tax-payer-backed re-inflation of a corrupt and knowingly devastating banking system on Jon Stewart's Daily Show, and watching the US fine (no jail time for anyone) a Swiss bank which admits its guilt over billions of fraud yet allow them to remain a prime dealer of US Treasuries; we thought the following story from a '3rd world banking system' would open a few eyes in the US this weekend as 'we remember'. As AP reports, a billionaire businessman at the heart of a $2.6 billion state bank scam in Iran, the largest fraud case since the country's 1979 Islamic Revolution, was executed Saturday, state television reported. DePAUL DIVEST DECLARES VICTORY IN STUDENT CAMPAIGN

CHICAGO – Following two months of campaigning at DePaul University, student coalition DePaul Divest declares victory in a campaign to divest from corporations that profit off of human rights violations perpetrated against Palestinians via the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine.
While a majority of divestment campaigns have been carried out through student government resolutions, DePaul Divest opted to pose the question of divestment to the entire DePaul student body through a Student Government Association (SGA) referendum this week.
With a majority of 1,575 votes in favor and 1,333 against, it is clear that Palestinian human rights, the rights of minorities within Israel and ethical investment are issues that concern the DePaul student body.

CNN’s "Yellow Journalism" Rating Hits All-Time High

As Jake Tapper’s “The Lead” Dips to New Low with “Coverage” of AE911Truth’s 9/11 Museum Brochure

It looked just like an infomercial, but with a lot more frowning.

In an example of Orwellian newspeak, the CNN show The Lead with Jake Tapper took on Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth over its decision to distribute information pamphlets outside the National September 11 Memorial and Museum at Ground Zero in New York City. The pamphlets mimic the design of the "official" ones, but instead of the official story, they contain key scientific forensic evidence indicating that the three World Trade Center towers were brought down with explosives and incendiaries. Unlike the official version, the photo on the cover of the AE pamphlet shows the Twin Towers and Building 7.
The Tapper report is a hysterical compendium of all the empty slogans and anti-conspiracy-theory talking points that make up the mainstream media's continuing attack on the 9/11 Truth Movement. It didn't take more than a couple of seconds into the report to see how Tapper was going to play the story. More here.

Russia Will Not Give Up Fighters for Human Rights – Putin on Snowden

ST. PETERSBURG, May 23 (RIA Novosti) – The US is to blame for whistleblower Edward Snowden ending up in Moscow, but Russia is not the type of country that hands over fighters for human rights, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Friday.
“Snowden arrived at our transit zone and later it was explained that no one wanted him … And they [the Americans] scared everyone, and he ended up in our transit zone. What were we supposed to do? Russia is not the type of country that gives up fighters for human rights,” Putin said during the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
“Why did the Americans scare the whole world? If they can force planes down with presidents on board, then they could have forced down anything with Mr. Snowden on board anywhere,” he said. More here.

Secret Weapon? Conspiracy Theories Abound as US Military Closes HAARP

The U.S. Air Force has notified Congress that it intends to shut down HAARP, a controversial Alaska-based research facility that studies an energetic and active region of the upper atmosphere.
Conspiracy theorists are abuzz about the news, given that HAARP (short for High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program) has long been the center of wild speculation that the program is designed to control the weather — or worse. In 2010, Venezuelan leader Huge Chavez claimed that HAARP or a program like it triggered the Haiti earthquake.
For the record, the Haitian quake of 2010 was caused by the slippage of a previously unmapped fault along the border of the Caribbean and North American tectonic plates. More here.

The FCC Thinks We're All Idiots

Just a few days ago, the FCC voted in favor of a pretty uniformly terrible proposal to allow internet fast lanes. And throughout the 99-page proposition, FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler makes one thing painfully apparent: The FCC thinks we're all a bunch of goddamn idiots.

Not only do they think we won't read...

Wheeler insists that the proposal itself is just a platform for "asking important and specific questions, and opening the discussion to all Americans." It's not. Instead, the fact sheet almost entirely consists of tentative conclusions. In other words these are the rules the FCC wants to adopt. That much is plain right in the text. Story here.

“Extreme” Levels of Roundup Detected in Food—Are You Eating This Toxic Contaminant?

In 2009, a French court found Monsanto guilty of lying; falsely advertising its Roundup herbicide as “biodegradable,” “environmentally friendly” and claiming it “left the soil clean.”
We’re now starting to understand just how false such statements are. For example, last summer, a groundbreaking study revealed a previously unknown mechanism of harm from glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup.
The research showed that glyphosate residues, found in most processed foods in the Western diet courtesy of GE sugar beets, corn, and soy, “enhance the damaging effects of other food-borne chemical residues and toxins in the environment to disrupt normal body functions and induce disease.”
More recently, a Norwegian study published in Food Technology found that genetically engineered (GE) soy contains high levels of glyphosate, along with a poorer nutritional profile, leading the researchers to question its quality and safety.
Evidence also suggests glyphosate may be a key player in Argentina’s growing health problems, where birth defects and cancer rates have skyrocketed among GE corn and soya farming communities. Story here.

Russia and China seal historic $400bn gas deal

After 10 years of negotiations, Russia's Gazprom and China's CNPC have finally signed a historic gas deal which will provide the world's fastest growing economy with the natural gas it needs to keep pace for the next 30 years.
The total value of the contract is $400 billion, Gazprom CEO Aleksey Miller said. However, the price of gas stipulated in the document remains a "commercial secret."
Assuming the overall price of the contract includes only the cost of supplies of Russian gas, then the $400 billion price tag means China will pay about $350 per 1,000 cubic meters. Delivery price for the contract will be tied to market oil prices, Putin said from Shanghai on Tuesday. Story here.

Pass Me the Twinkies and the AK47: Mainstream Media Lost in a ‘D-Generation’

  Excerpt:
For around 20 years but especially for the last 10 years, and intensifying all the time, sales of “traditional print media” have declined in the western countries. The pat explanation is an Internet which churns with carbon copy models of “traditional media”, both newspaper clones, and magazine clones, but this is at best a half of the explanation for the probably certain disappearance of the “great newspapers”.

This other half of the explanation concerns dumbing-down, lying, trivialization and idiotized fantasy and entertainment-oriented coverage replacing the former copy – and even the propaganda – that buyers of print media got. Much the same happened to broadcast media through the same time period, eating into audience and viewer scores and shredding the credibility of former “reference programmes’ like the Eight o’Clock News shows broadcast both on private and state TV stations. Television is well on its way (if it’s not already there) to becoming another Lost Media, just like the print media.

Israeli soldiers shot dead teenagers Mohammed Odeh Abu al-Thaher and Nadim Siyam Nawara during a protest coinciding with the 66th anniversary of the Nakba outside Israel’s Ofer prison near the West Bank city of Ramallah. Israel had claimed it fired rubber bullets during the May 15 protest to disperse the protesters.
But footage released by the Defence for Children International (DCI) captured from a security camera at a nearby house shows the youths, believed to be aged 16 and 17, being shot dead as they calmly walked.

US House awards Gold Medal for war criminal Shimon Peres

The US House of Representatives on Monday voted to give the Congressional Gold Medal to Israel’s outgoing president, Shimon Peres.
The bill which authorizes the creation of the gold medal and its award to Peres, HR 2939,  is co-sponsored by Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) and Rep. Joe Kennedy (D-MA). It touts Peres’ “pivotal role in forging the strong and unbreakable bond between the United States and Israel” and states that “by presenting the Congressional Gold Medal … Congress proclaims its unbreakable bond with Israel and reaffirms its continual support for Israel.”
