Late last month, US Secretary of State John Kerry told the Trilateral
Commission in New York that that if there was no two-state solution to
the Israeli-Palestinian conflict soon, Israel risked becoming “an
apartheid state.”
Kerry’s address, delivered on April 25 in New York,
was supposed to be a private affair, but a reporter who had crashed the
event nevertheless reported the comments the following Sunday. Although
Kerry’s remarks were couched in elaborate diplomatic qualifications,
the description nevertheless went viral.
